Публикувано на: Чет Фев 09, 2023 3:21 pmWhy do so many competitions have the veterans group as 40+? There is a very big difference in age and ability between a 40 year old and a nearly 70 year old. I'm sure there are a lot of more mature riders that would really appreciate a veterans 55+ group.
Mountain biking has become very popular over the last 10 - 15years, and now the situation has arisen where as you now have veterans who enter races who were veterans 10 years ago as well! At 67 years young, my husband is still very much able to compete and loves taking part in most competitions around Bulgaria, he is very healthy and a very strong rider, but because of the huge difference in category age ranges for veterans it is becoming a little demoralizing for him. Mostly he will say that he takes part just for the fun of it, and that is the right spirit in which to enter races, but why should it be like that? I'm not sure the elite classes or the young upcoming competitors enter just for the fun nor the spirit of the ride, and pay, sometimes quite a large amount to do so.
